‘Mum, lets just get on the plane and fly’✈️😎. Children’s innocents is ‘magic’ and ‘inspiring’. If only life was so simple 😜, then again how many limits do we put on ourselves and not question them? 🙏#freedomofadventure
People are social animals and when they group together they can do more. Groups do great things, groups also do bad things. What they have in common is a shared culture. That culture glues them together, adds context to their discussions and moves them to action.
But groups also divide. It divides groups from other groups the members of those groups with it. Groups are groups because they highlight differences between them and individuals from other groups.
The sad thing is that more often than not, those individuals also have a great deal of things that connect them to another. It's just that we don't see them because we look at them from the group perspective. This causes a great deal of dissonance and conflict in our societies. We focus on what makes us different rather than what unites us.
Empathy is the antidote here. People are like stories: the perspectives someone holds on the world originate in their life stories and the subjective experiences that have made that story. People don't hold different viewpoints from you because they are different in nature, but because they've been living a different story. Groups neglect that story and only highlight the ending.
Ask yourself “What is it that makes this person who they are, and how may the impact of their experiences dictate their outlook?” Much of the time, you’ll be able to consider a situation from a higher level of clarity, and that will inform your ability to better navigate differences or similarities. You may even realize that maybe it’s you that’s on the wrong side and then you’ll be able to upgrade your own thinking for the better.
Everyone has their own story behind who they are and why they do what they do. You'll understand where they're coming from and be in a better position to see what unites rather than what divides.
There is nobody you can’t learn to love once you’ve heard their story.
Aha... it appears I do have something to say today after all. 😉😁 It just came to me thinking about how much I have changed as an individual these past few years. I use to care about others opinions a lot until all the times arose where I wasn't accepted as the person I am. No way was I going to change to "fit-in". It never felt right when I tried to be who others wanted. I understand the shallow who dislike how strong I am still do their utmost to harm me and make me stop being who I am, but they will never succeed. I honestly have never once approached any individual for assistance on anything, not one fellow Academic, Career's Advisor (in my life) not one Lecturer, not 1 Councillor, or not 1 other student. I have achieved all I have completely alone. It was hard at times, the hardest thing I ever did in life was to be self reliant and learn not to care actually, but it paid off in the end. The hurt will pay off if you are just being you. It has for me. My university obviously has been watching me these past few years and no doubt they think I'm capable of more than working as a Social Worker or as a "typical Artist". I have no interest in learning photography either as nobody on earth can teach me what I have taught myself using Samsung androids. In the last 4 years I have won many awards and scholarships off TAFE NSW and my uni, and been to India with my university, because of me, and what I have inside me. I realize that now. Today I realized I don't need to expose my talent because it's still there whether I show society or not. I am feeling great about my future as an Artist and I will definitely be patient with myself. ✋✌ I hope that was understood by some.😁🤔✋❤ Goodnight individuals. Sweet dreams tonight. 🌍 #empowerment#quoteme#artislife#art#artist#bornfree#borntobewild#poetry#poet#selfbelief#selfreliance#bekindtoyou#love#acceptability#underdogs#growth#pride#wisdom#philosophy#stopvanity#endgreed#dependonyou#boss#empoweringothers
