#mentalhealthawareness So many people have added their voice to this hash tag. I’m in total awe of some of the posts, the openness and honesty that’s helping to break down those barriers, making mental health a topic to talk about, is half the battle in making people who go through it not to feel alone. That’s the problem when you are suffering. Suffering in silence only compounds issues and the awful feeling like you are alone, even in a room full of people and the only one who feels like this, can be isolating. Raising awareness and making people realise that it’s very common to feel this way is actually quite a relief. . There has been a lot of chat on instagram about finding your tribe. It’s totally true, surrounding yourself with people who you get and who get you, makes you feel like a better version of yourself, people who bring out your best you and you can relate to are worth their weight in gold. Whether it’s on-line, your friends from Nct (which by the way I would have gone totally loco without - well, even more than I did to be honest, postnatal depression coupled with tiredness is not a lot of fun!), nursery or school mates, work mates, neighbours, it doesn’t matter how you find them, just do! It’s not an instant cure, but it can certainly make you feel better and it’s a great support system. . Katie and I always believe in the power of laughter. We speak on the phone daily, more often than not 3 or 4 times while we are working. We often talk through our troubles and anxieties by having a good laugh. Even when i had to explain to Bea that my mum, her grandma had died after loosing her battle with cancer, we said she had got her wings (so hard to find the words for a 3 1/2 year old!) and sort of pointed upwards - she replied with “what, she’s in the loft?!” It totally helped break the sadness. Laughter releases endorphins that can really make you feel a bit better and it’s really important to let go of things and to be able to laugh and find the funny in things does really help. It’s not often you find someone you can truly belly laugh with but it’s just the best feeling, especially when you need it most.

I am a full blown alcoholic, and this weather is enticing. _____________________ I honestly think one of the hardest things to do, is doing what's right for yourself when the rest of the world is doing the opposite. I have to remind myself that my decision is for what's best for me and my body, mind and soul. I often feel like I'm less approachable and it's lonely- but this " lonely" is a mindset and not physical metaphor therefor I have even more control. ________________________ I have to remind myself that the average person doesn't black out ( when thats all I have ever known) I lost 10 years of memories, But that's only 10 years ..I have 5x that to live still and make memories. You lost 5 bucks out of 100 are you going to throw the 95$ remaining away? I have made many friends through my account here and I am grateful for that! But I’ve also had several people make very sexual comments to me because I posted one picture in what is an admittedly low cut dress. I posted that picture because it’s the only one I have that actually shows my body and I’m starting to like myself and I wanted to share my struggle and that I’m getting over it slowly. I don’t believe anyone has the right to assume I want something sexual from them because I posted a picture of my body. It’s beginning to change how I view that picture and I don’t like that. These people are taking away the one photo I actually love of myself and I just don’t want to give them the right to do so. I never posted that picture looking for compliments, I posted it to show it can get better and to find like minded people who can understand my struggle and for me to help them with theirs. Now I just feel wrong and like I only have myself to blame.
